Bandolier Pins

Interplex offers a complete line of bandolier pins and terminals that can be customized to support a variety of dimensional requirements, plating specifications and application-specific designs. Our bandolier pins are available in either square or round wire, as well as numerous pitches and sizes. Parts are offered in plated, selective plated or un-plated options.

At Interplex, we advocate an open tooling approach which can be quickly and cost-effectively adapted to meet customer-specific requirements. We specialize in responding to quick-turnaround orders and have the ability to fast-track ramp-up for high-volume production as part of our commitment to supporting customers’ application-specific requirements anywhere in the world.

Bandolier wire terminals can be inserted directly into the band and reeled for delivery. Band dimensions can be selected from a wide variety according to the pitch of holes in each housing. This allows an increased number of pins to be inserted simultaneously in the assembly process, consequently reducing takt time within the production line.

Another characteristic of bandolier pins is that individual terminals can be inserted in a fixed direction. In addition to the insertion of bare wires and pre-plated wires into the bandolier, plating after insertion is also possible. This allows reduction in material costs in the surface treatment process by means of partial plating. Compared to press-formed terminals, initial die costs can be significantly reduced, and it is possible to plate the terminals on four sides.

Interplex can also customize Press-Fit type bandolier pins, which are square-type bandolier terminals where each pin has a Press-Fit configuration. The Press-Fit pins can be produced in custom shapes that match specific requirements.

Our half-etching processes can be used for special applications such as hand break-offs, sharp beveled edges and tips, capillary grooves and other unique features.
By leveraging proven processes on the same flexible equipment for all prototype and production runs, we eliminate the need for special tooling or process migration, thereby optimizing time-to-market and lowering overall production costs. Typically, we can go from quote to production deliveries in less than 6 weeks and can ramp-up from a few pieces to over 10 million in a matter of weeks.
Our fully computerized process control system manages 160 critical physical and chemical process variables in real time to assure uniform and consistent results. Results are also automatically audited by online vision systems at the end of the lines.
Interplex’s chemical etching processes are certified to ISO 9001, TS16949 and ISO 14001. Lamination and Exposure processes are performed in a class 100 (ISO 5) cleanroom. Output areas of the etch lines are enclosed in a class 10,000 (ISO 7) cleanroom, so as parts exit the naturally particle-resistant etch process, they are immediately packed within this cleanroom environment.

Electric Power Steering

Power steering systems supplement the torque that the driver applies to the steering wheel to augment steering effort. This is done by use of hydraulic or electric actuators to add controlled energy to the steering mechanism.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Tire pressure monitoring systems are electronic systems designed to monitor the air pressure inside a vehicle’s pneumatic tires. It reports real-time tire pressure information to the driver either via a gauge, a pictogram display, or a warning light. There are 2 types of TPMS: Direct and indirect. The former uses pressure sensors (either internal or external), whereas the latter uses wheel speed sensors to determine tire pressure from wheel rotational speeds.

Tire pressure is very important for safety; significant under or over-inflation creates unsafe driving conditions from increased friction and lost traction respectively. Interplex’s TPMS products enable the accurate collection of tire pressure data for a safer drive.

Transmission

The purpose of a car’s transmission is to shift gears accordingly to ensure that the correct amount of power goes to the wheels to drive the car at a given speed. Transmissions can be either manual or automatic.

In the former, the driver steps on the clutch to disengage the engine and transmission, shifts the gear stick manually, and then releases the clutch having shifted into this new gear. The latter uses a torque converter that automatically achieves this for the driver without use of a clutch. Modern automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. Each time a gear change is required, the transmission solenoid is activated to direct transmission fluid into the valve body to engage the correct gear.
