Process & Capability
Interplex’s heritage as a precision metal stamping supplier dates back to the company’s origins in 1958. Considered a premier precision metal stamping supplier in the industry, Interplex specializes in the stamping of tight-tolerance, close-pitch, high-precision and light-gauge metal components as well as thicker gauge, larger metal components and assemblies.
In providing precision metal stampings, we maintain a robust internal tooling capability to assure all of our progressive stamping tools exceed customer requirements. For progressive tooling design, we employ top-of-the-line CAD packages such as AutoCAD, and Cadkey, as well 3D packages such as Pro E and SolidWorks. Each facility has surface grinding, programmable CNC centers, sinker EDM and wire cutting EDM technologies to support in-house precision metal stamping operations.
Precision Metal Stamping
Interplex’s stamping operations utilize leading precision metal stamping presses (manual, progressive or robotic lines) including Bruderer, Kyori, Ingyu, AIDA, SEYI, PATEC, Yamada Dobby and V&O presses and Minister with sizes ranging from 5 tons to 800 tons. Materials used in the precision metal stamping process include Beryllium Copper, Phosphorous Bronze, Stainless Steel & Copper and Cold Rolled Steel with a thickness ranging from 0.002″ to 0.180″. As a result, Interplex has the capability to provide metal stamping services and products for a wide variety of industries. These are complemented with a comprehensive range of secondary processes including tapping, welding, staking and mechanical assembly.
In addition to metal stamping, we have integrated a number of complimentary precision metal forming and metal joining processes such as in-die welding and in-die tapping and riveting into the stamping operations to reduce costs in certain applications.
We also leverage on state-of-the-art metal stamping technology including precision progressive cold forged stamping and multi-slide stamping, to continually exceed the limits of conventional metal stamping manufacturing processes.

Types of Stamping Services available:
In-house tooling capabilities include engineering a solid model design, CAM packages for linkage to CAD, and modern CNC machining on various equipment, grinding and Wire EDM techniques to produce carbide and steel as well as ceramic tooling designed to meet exacting specification.
In-house design and manufacture of prototype tooling for tight-tolerance precision metal stamped components as well as larger components such as enclosures and assemblies, and short run volumes. In-house ability for prototype and low volume over-molded or mold and assemble plastic/metal components.
Precision Metal Stamping
Interplex has over 600 metal stamping presses ranging from 5 tons to 800 tons. The equipment includes Bruderer, Kyori, Ingyu, AIDA, SEYI, PATEC and Minster, Yamada Dobby and V&O presses. Precision metal stamping services include:

In-house manufacture of carrier tape pockets with manual and automated equipment to place stamped parts into carrier tape.
In-house reel-to-reel selective coating of epoxy.
In-die assembly (within a progressive stamping tool) of components. Metal assembly in the progressive die, such as rivet-type contact insertion, staking, and mixed metal assembly for spring and terminal assemblies, as well as circuit and terminal assemblies.
In-die thread tapping of stamped components. This process provides a more consistent product while reducing tool cost and piece price. Mostly suited to a high volume application.
A fully automated, precision high-speed welding process of round or flat wire, shaped tape and precious metal contacts.
Our metal stamping capability is currently equipped with over 600 Metal stamping presses, precision high speed as well as normal and long stroke. The parts manufactured vary from tiny parts in material as thin as .05mm to larger frames and heavy duty metal components. Our precision metal stamping presses vary in size from 5 tons to 800 tons, and with speeds up to 1,500 per minute. In addition to presses and auxiliary equipment, our metal stamping capability is equipped for in process inspection with CPK analysis, as well as press mounted vision systems where required. Additionally there are aqueous cleaning systems, and atmosphere controlled ovens for heat treatment of beryllium copper and other requirements. Our stamping services also have skiving equipment to contour metal thickness and configuration as required.
